The prospect of death is always there…like shadows cling to heels or sunshine in the eyes of a stranger. You never know. Always hovering down the road. Sometimes we get a feeling to stay away and some times it’s too late. Other times I believe an angel or two may be involved in your protection from the bad ones. We read about them every day. People in every level of society who seem to carry death with them. This evil side of human nature has been a constant since the beginning.
There’s a book I’ve read several times which is part of a series. The Teachings of Don Juan. In one of the scenes, the apprentice is driving at night with Don Juan and notices headlights following…then he looks again, and they’re gone….then they are back on…and then finally, gone. The apprentice tells this to Don Juan, who answers. The headlights, you see…that’s death. He always travels close behind, but sometimes he shuts off his lights.
And what of dreams? They are strange, indeed. We work out secret scars from the past. We have visions of the incredible futures. We have vivid sexual fantasies, and so on. We talked about lucid dreaming once before, you told me you could teach me but that never came to be. Either way, what a joy that would be. Also, sometimes as we sleep, we are attacked by evil spirits and maybe visited by angels. You well know, there are positive and negative forces in the world….we can’t see them. The wind comes and goes with great power, and it’s invisible, and gravity holds us to this lonely planet, yet we can’t see it. Likewise, good and evil exist on a plane that we can’t see, but we feel their effects.
When we sleep, we are vulnerable. But when awake, we can make small changes, yes? The beauty we surround ourselves with is reflected back to the world…that beauty we accept with our ears and with our eyes. We think about it, and it becomes part of us. Manifesting, programing, conjuring. Likewise, evil things are taken in with the eyes and ears then our thoughts give them power. Evil things also occupy places in our homes with the things we collect…crystals, talismans, statues, and words. People bring evil things into their homes all te time, and spirits can inhabit them, but the greatest prize is us and our thoughts and souls. Evil usually comes by way of invitation.
There is evil that follows us our whole life. Physical and sexual abuse, and hurtful words like characters in a play that show up in our dreams for years. Seething under skin. I know one thing for certain…some people are just haunted; the sooner you get away from them, the better. You told me about the man in your dreams…he could be death. He could be killing you little by litle, like a parasite. Feeding you guilt. Acusing you for not speaking up. Your silence was not failure…it was survival. That was long ago.
Awake or asleep. There is a battle taking place. A continous onslaught of negativity like white noise on a radio…a steady mumble jumble of venomous lies. Voices conditioning you for failure. Don’t listen! The things you saw on your bedroom floor could be saying that your spiritual house is not in order and you are still a prisoner of the world…but not the physical world…the one in your mind.
You know how powerful your mind is? We talked about this many times. You told me how worried you are…I understand completey. For most parents, the well-being of their kids is at the forefront. We worry; we fear the worst. It’s always going to be this way sweetie. Back back to dreams..yes, they are amazing things. Inside them, I’ve received wonderful ideas, insights, poems, stories, as well as horrible fears and reminders of an unperfect past. But don’t be afraid. Fear is your one true enemy.
