Fantasy persuades the senses,
tricks the mind to compensate.
Keeps us spinning on a treadmill,
makes you hurry up and wait.
Mixing pain with pleasure (longing)
hiding what is truly real.
Believing you are moving forward,
based upon the way we feel.
Everything I knew of love
was misdirection at the start…
Sleight of tongue, words of want,
mixed emotions, broken hearts.
Crafty was my mindset,
pulling wool for sleepy eyes…
It’s true the heart believes a lie,
too late before we realize.
Sensations, stimulations,
speculations, joys abound…
Cast your cares on muddy waters,
Into brilliant skies, you drown.
Attractions as distractions,
conditioned to respond, we share.
Smile lines, blush, and lipstick whispers,
made-up eyes, and perfect hair.
Perfect bodies, porn perspectives,
perfect lies, inspire confusion.
You said that true romance was dead,
ever after…just illusion.
Seeing deeper, so much deeper
into layers of lines she wrote…
You tried to warn me, love is futile,
seems I never got the note.
When we met, I saw you as
an answer to a desperate prayer…
Radiating, supernova,
mercy for the dying soul.
You gave as you were given to,
then took the lion’s share,
And yet, I never cared to notice
Relinquishing my self-control.
Is this what lovers feel?
The question burns, but there’s no pain.
A secret that’s so hard to keep,
Everything that now remains.
Reality presents itself
within the walls of sleep…
Following shepherds of our lust,
tossing, turning, counting sheep.
Counting out the time
across the ceiling (off the wall)
Waiting for a star to fall,
burning out without a wish.
It doesn’t matter where it lands,
if it lands, or where it goes…
We want it now, we want it all,
but we integrate as we suppose.
Obsessing to achieve,
words are truly keys indeed.
Unlocking feelings we once hid,
exposing foolish things we did.
When I was young, I saw the world
more fantasy than fact…
No care for rules, or waves of wrath,
The subtlties of loss or lack.
We turn and turn again,
negotiating with our pens…
Writing observations
proving futile in the end.
You hear my words and smile,
watch my mouth run smoky rings…
Curious about my kiss,
trying not to miss a thing.
The breath between my rhymes,
the scent of spearmint-flavored gum…
You used to listen deeper,
said I was the only one.
My words became a bond;
I spoke existence into being
But it was all a story,
another life that I was seeing.
