IGNITION

Ignition sequence starts
The countdown has begun
Worlds collide, we fall apart
It’s
Five
Four
Three
Two
One…

One small step to what could be
Two steps towards the door…
Three words you have never said
Four is always wanting more

Five times round your sacred realm;
The angels testify…
Riding naked at the helm…
Racing through a blue moon sky.

The launch pad burns, like beds on fire
Glistening skin reflects your soul,
Chances flying, worlds colliding
Space unfolds, your fingers scroll.

You shot your mouth off like a gun
Sipping change like honey wine…
The best intentions come undone,
When wishing on those stars, divine.

We aim our rockets, shoot the moon,
Have science fiction fantasies.
Engines come, they rev too soon…
Lost in technicalities.

Leaving common sense behind;
Forever reaching up to space.
Those magic worlds we hope to find,
Are found, then all too soon, replaced.

Now NASA’s blushing, so perplexed,
Ashamed of everything you’ve done…
Having sex on planet X…
Reckless…telling everyone.

Now the earth is fast asleep;
Nothing ventured, nothing learned.
For love is still one giant leap…
As lonely worlds forever turn.

And gravity may weigh us down,
And shooting stars will steal your wishes
The sequence keeps repeating on
Igniting questions with wet kisses

And days will die and fade to black,
Then spin so brilliant, shine a light.
The same as time and space contracts…
The same as pain expands your night.
