Your subtle bite intoxicates
Your venom soothes my soul
Your tail wraps around my arm
And saves me from the cold
A little more or less the same
But never quite as first
My need for more will feed this flame
But never quench my thirst
Like a viper in the form of a sentence
Uncoiling fears into repentance
Contemplating vain endeavors
Smooth as skin and oh-so-clever
Until you’re fast asleep and dreaming
Unbridled spit and spoiled scheming
Snake tongues split, and spitting lies
Sticky thoughts like wicked flies
The blackened spoon of contempt stirs
You find you’re not exempt from hers
The center of your sun is blinding
Sad, your story is unwinding
With blood of so much passion boils
The evil life you live uncoils
In your broken veins, it’s racing faster
On the heels of pure disaster
Off the mark, like false starts firing
Purple tracks and vain inquiring’s
Steal to buy and beg to borrow
Death forgets your last tomorrow
Beg to borrow, steal to buy
This is how tomorrow dies
Your subtle bite intoxicates
Your venom soothes my soul
Your tail wraps around my arm
And saves me from the cold
A little more or less the same
But never quite as first
My need for more will feed this flame
But never quench my thirst
Until you’re fast asleep and dreaming
Unbridled spit and spoiled…scheming
Serpent words unbound and biting
Twisting thoughts while deaths inciting
Blackened, burnt, contempt does stir
So sure, you’re not exempt from hers
Or maybe his, I must insist
A marker for the life you missed
The center of your sun is gone
Seething through the dusk alone
The blood of so much passion boils
Reduced to worthless spit and spoils
Slither through, you slur and flatter
As your words slide fast and fatter
Slowing to a crawl, you cry
Bending whispers into lies
Praying for a savior
As I chase my gods away
My soul is now laid forfeit
With the remnants of the day
And still, your bite intoxicates
Your venom soothes my soul
Your tail around my arm again
My body’s strangely cold
A little more or less the same
But this something’s worst
My need for more will feed this flame
But never quench my thirst
