You listened intently
Smiled vague approvals
Lipstick stains on
Cracked porcelain teacups
Full of questions spilling over
Repeating a story inspired
By a lie or maybe three
Into puddles full of nothing
Remnants of reality
Convincing yourself
Of a lifetime borrowed
Sorrow written sideways
Mist and vain imaginings
Thinking you could let go
Of those powerful words
I need you
Oppressive thoughts
Distorting perception
Bearing down on reason
As you recall the morning
When you woke up to her silence
Or maybe it was his
Either way, something missed
It’s hard to tell for sure
A blur, no sight to judge
Some fall we never rose above
Thorns of love, a wrinkled mess
Where we once layed
I must confess
So hard to grasp the more or less
We lose the way we second guess
Based on who and how we choose
Full of nothing, puddles form
Remnants of a life we mourn
Now we talk in poems and posts
Ghostly rhymes accursed in verse
What’s worse we’re drawn
To lines, we bleed
Links we drink as flesh we feed
Drunk from crimson thoughts
They stain
And what remains is something strange
Riddles
Lyrics
Phrases dead
Rants and rages in the head
To cleanse their souls of guilt they share
Constant cravings for despair
Foundations always caving in
With sand they save
And truth they spin
Remnants of what could have been
As example, listen now
I’ll tell you Why and show you How
You once believed me when I said
The day was crying shades of red
A countenance of consequence
In 300 shades of shifting doubt
As notes to hang a song upon
Stars of love to live without
Pretty as the sky, we fly
But yet you could not see
Some misty words obscured your view
To split the sky we slipped into
Saw me somewhat as a savior
Sadly misjudged my behavior
Writing
I love you
Pretend!
Goodbye with an airplane pen
A fantasy in white and blue
From me to you and back again
Now the words mix with the clouds
Slowly fading into gray
Strange the light we live without
Remnants of some darker days
