Sweet Anemone
Your beauty is a memory
Aphrodite weeps
For the blood of Adonis
Poured out for eternity
I gazed into the future
Found a vision of the past
Whatever I look forward to
Is never meant to last
To prove my point, it’s very clear
That each mistake I make
Eventually repeats until another takes its place
It seems like only yesterday
We fiercely played with fire
Do you remember what you told me?
(Love burns with dark desires)
Scent of Ambretta
Now lingers on my pillow
Waking to silence
The day begins as it ends
Creating what could have been
Longing is a sacred rite
the poets use to bleed their muse
It wreaks with lines like clinging vines
Disdain becomes a state of mind
These prism thoughts illuminate,
Splintering out with muted lights
Reflecting pain, then fade to black
by clouds of lack from angry gods
It seems like only yesterday
You tied me to your fantasy
Do you remember what you told me?
(Love alone will set us free)
April brings the rain
Kisses taste of Ambrosia
Leaves me hungry, still
A hole never to be filled
No matter how fast I write
For desire breeds illusion
A feast for mischievous fairies, yes?
They fed you dreams in multiples
Until ecstasy consumed you
All the while, you smiled
With slippery words inside your mouth
Watching as you swallowed them
Details coming from my pen
It seems like only yesterday
I worshiped your release
Do you remember what you told me?
(Our poems reveal our destiny)
Beauty surrounds you
White Bryony at your feet
Walking on poison
Asking me to follow you
Reluctantly, died to self
How else could I ever know
Complacency eventually kills
Your followers have left the page,
Their LIKES are remnants of the day
How else could we ever see,
while watching from the skies?
With envious eyes, we lusted
Trusting taste as something pure
Searching for indifference,
switching symptoms for a cure
It seems like only yesterday
With pretty words, you swooned
Do you remember what you told me?
(I’ll promise you a crescent moon)
Callia of my heart
Flows as blood through fertile fields
Nature deceives me
These demons live in the trees
I hear them when the wind blows
And so it goes, the gods departed
Left us burning once again
This time, more a pyre, wooden idols of desire
We became a story, more a footnote in a book
Dog-eared notes to nothing
Underlining lines of loss
The cost we can’t determine
Until retrospect appears
Keeping enemies near
Only works on silver screens
It seems like only yesterday
We died inside extremes
Do you remember what you told me?
(Life outgrows our dreams)
