IF LOVE COULD KILL

Why must I die a thousand deaths
Since you said goodbye?
If love could kill, it does (it will)
A promise by and by
The precipice of forever more
Is nothing but a lie
It always was! This much is true
At least that’s how it seems
A dream catcher’s reality
Of not-so-secret fantasies
Lines we crossed but never touched
Dead, not gone, but still, they haunt
Spaces filled with faceless thrills
In black ink aftermath, they spill
In poetries
Soliloquies
Bouquets of fractured reveries
Volumes of remains we gather

Why doe the sun continue shining
on the darkest days
If love could kill, it will (It does)
When words like daggers are enough
Volumes of remains we gather
From byegone days divine
In velvet lines, I penned your name
And likewise then, you felt the same
Resurrected from the grave
Of love’s tender demise
Some copper kisses for the eyes
Or full moon wishes full of lies
We often watch the closing doors
The trains depart too soon
A mist of thoughts left in its wake
Some books of poems for pity’s sake

Why does the universe conspire
to keep us drowning in desire
If love could kill, it surely will
We burn in secret fires
Tempest swirling in our beds
Longing (maelstrom in our heads)
No question why, but then again
Why must I long for love divine
A night sublime…remember when?
Sipping thoughts inside our wine
“A Love Supreme” played in the dark
Some candlelight (a magic glow)
Reflected in those poems we spoke
We touched and fell into a kiss
Enchanted, skewed, slightly slanted
Leading to a dream we wanted
Love we needed
Fate conceded

Why does love play like a movie in the mind
Touching the void (The fabric of life)
Filling in our empty spaces
Finishing each other’s thoughts
Sentences to syllables, beats we count
As pulses, as memories, as evidence
Kept as lockets, kept as keys,
Kept as proof
Proof of love
Proof of life
Prisoners of conformity
So innocently, we lost identity
Opening those dreams we bought
The paper fell around our feet
How sweet the sound
Of scattered breaths
A mirror image I recall
You always liked to watch
Exhausted, we found heaven
In the moment, love was born

Why must I be reborn into
These thousand deaths I mourn
If love could kill, like in it spills
When swallowing our tongues
Remember how those days dragged on
Like bodies across a floor
Seeing you inside his arms
The pain you still adore
Suspicions so confirmed
You said that he was just a friend
She said we grieve what we believe
So easy to deceive when
compromising with our pens
Remember how she spoke her mind?
Said the things you longed to hear
And then her voice inside your ear
Let’s meet for coffee, pastries, tea
So easily we justify the lines that we complete

Why must I reincarnate hate
These lives I live in vain
Deceit taste sweet we speak in haste
Sip and taste the lives we waste
Second-guessing (chances missed)
Like rusted spoons to block our eyes
We feel our way with shades of doubt
Speak with forked intentions, yes?
From both sides of the mouth
And what is left at best is
is kin to inside looking out
Worshiping of mischief
Turns and kills us in the end
It’s easy making promises
Just cross your fingers and pretend
Another funeral for a friend
A death by deft desires flow
A change of seasons, I suppose
Coffin for a crimson rose
