PAINTED POEMS FOR WANING WHIMSEY

Pigmented possibilities
in a string of random lines
Clinging to the moments
born of hues of colored rhymes
Encapsulating fractals,
much like prism lights will bend
Drawing fascination
with the ink inside your pen

Speaking with a palette,
Choosing words to fill your needs
A canvas filled with curses
Painted verses slyly bleed
Crimson-colored glasses
see your world turned upside down
A vision of damnation
With a pink carnation crown

The flowers picked with care,
sharing dreams, you once denied
Each color steals the sun;
in clouds of thought, you try to hide
Combining certain words
will change their meanings
on the spot
The same as paints you mix
become the shades
of what you’re not

Mystic memories flow
In brilliant skies of Azure blue
Where autumn trees breathe melodies
through fields we fell into
Or summer lawns, adorned with pink
and chartreuse atmospheres
A wedding day soon turned to gray
was doused in abstruse tears

Muting all the colors,
they were tolerable at best
We danced inside a circle,
Sadly, thinking we were blessed
But that’s another lifetime
Brilliant dream that we sold
A quilted recollection
of some stories we were told

Your sacred cat, so curious
with her calico demure
We all thought she was Persian,
but she clearly wasn’t pure
Wearing purple ears
With Christmas bells and satin shoes
A patchwork coat of (post-it notes)
In yellow, pink, and blue

And why I brought her up
was just necessity, at best
Intangible, these thoughts
until they finally manifest
Into a world of wonder
full of multi-colored rhymes
Pigmented possibilities
in a string of random lines
