THE NIGHTMARE FACTORY

Welcome to the factory
Where nightmares come to life
Delivered while you’re sleeping
On the sharp end of a knife

From one point to another
How truth stabs in your steps
Confusion leads you forward
Towards a tar pit of regrets

With lovely colors bleeding
Into shades of grey and black
Stealing sunshine from your mind
Laying six feet on your back

Woven worms and earthen blankets
Echoes taunting in your head
Creatures watching from the ceiling
Ghosts hide underneath your bed

Yes, the nightmare is beginning
Twisting links of rusted chain
Suffocating with the darkness
Drowns in silence once again

Desperate arms around your pillow
Feathered cries to no avail
Prayers of penitence you swallow
Running helpless as you wail

Wheels of guilt forever grinding
Demons fueling dark machines
Tortured by the life you covet
Laughing as they watch you scream

And who can stand the sound of pain
The promises we make in vain
The lies we leave like human stains
Haunting cries of love’s refrain

Or writers choking on their words
The poets slowly turning blue
Love and loss as testaments
Lines of hurt they can’t undo

Whatever feeds your darkest fears
The factory will soon provide
With blood and ink and stinging tears
It’s time for you to step inside

Welcome to the factory
Where nightmares come to life
Delivered while you’re sleeping
On the sharp end of a knife
