WHITE RABID CHRISTMAS
The path unwinds like vines
around your ankles
Clinging to a scene of white-winged wonder
Your friends are hidden deep
Within the forest
Safe inside the Christmas spell
they’re under
Time flies by as storm clouds
gather mischief
Chasing brilliant dreams
from prism skylines
Making angels in the
pure white snow drifts
Perfect with their bloody
crimson outlines
Bodies fall like cards
in all directions
Milky eyes glossed over
blind to reason
Pink and blue lights blur
your warped perception
Rushing through another
Christmas season
And now you found yourself
a fatal virus
Hiding just beneath
your dingy fur
It’s brought your hidden rage
up to the surface
And sadly you’re beyond
the point of cure
Now vicious, foaming at
the mouth of madness
Fear of water haunts
your rampant thirst
Numbed to all those
white-noise Christmas carols
Can’t decide which symptom’s
truly worse
You say, “Hello, I surely must be going.”
The bitch who bit your foot
is close behind
Another taste is all she’s
really craving
She’ll swallow down your pain
like cherry wine
Now fever flames the fires
of wicked rampage
As whimsey bleeds to horror
from your pen
The next two stanzas
truly are disturbing
Racing toward this twisted
story’s end
The Christmas guests have all
gone sadly missing
The dormouse chased unto
its certain doom
The tea is cold…the party’s
long since over
The Hatter, head to toe,
has been consumed
Caterpillar drowned inside
his hookah
Cheshire cat has vanished
with his smile
The Queen of Hearts is buried
six-feet under
And Jobberwocky’s surely
been defiled
Now Rabbit’s day of mayhem
is a memory
He sleeps inside a box
of holly leaves
Running through a world
of secret gardens
Dreaming on this
Rabid Christmas Eve
