These sentences I’m speaking now
you finish before they end
so I have nothing left to say
no longer can pretend
For here we are so helpless
on this page of life, we stole
killing time with books of rhyme
realities unfold
It’s just a love thing sad but true
a song the blackbird cries
Like moths are drawn
to light, they die
in flames of lover’s lies
We circle round the truth in dreams
by streams where willows weep
Creating pain in ripples
with the wicked way we speak
Creating life as wishes blown
as feathers on the breeze
Change like stormy weather
bringing pain we can’t release
It’s just a love thing sad but true
A hat to rest your hook
The fate of what was me and you
now dog ears in a book
A written cage in pages
wasted words with ink we craved
The paragraphs now epitaphs
for love we never saved
Some roses tossed into a hole
a prayer and kiss goodbye
the first to come and last to leave
a gravestone for the loss we grieve
It’s just a love thing sad but true
a head to hold your mind
some roses down your milky thighs
a pillow full of feathered lies
To walk away is easy yes?
Then we drown in our regrets
we see a path before us
paved with life we soon forget
But just as breadcrumbs leave a trail
The past bites at our heels
we run and hide to no avail
as truth always reveals
It’s just a love thing sad but true
a song the blackbird cries
Like moths are drawn
to light, they die
in flames of lover’s lies
